Des bonnes nouvelles/Good news!

Four days ago at about the same time, I came to the conclusion that it would be much better to study abroad in Paris for the entire Spring Semester instead of just one week during Spring Break.  So, I applied to Abroadco's (www.abroadco.com) program at the Sorbonne and the American University in Paris.  Two days later I received an e-mail from the programs director in Arizona stating that my application had been approved!  Formidable!  The last semester of my undergraduate career shall be in Gay Paris!

Now I must get official approval from my university, and I will be on my way back to France, which leaves me with three months in Gainesville to prepare for my endeavor.

Some important items of business I need to take care of include:
  • renewing my passport,
  • obtaining a visa, and
  • moving out of my cute, little house/dealing with my hoard.
These tasks will take some time, so I must get started immediately.  I looked into using P.O.D.S. (www.pods.com) to store/move my belongings.  It might be the answer.  On Monday, I shall go to the passport office, because it has been ten years since I last went to France and initially got my passport.

So far, this blog is terribly boring.  My main purpose for this blog is to share my experiences with family and friends once I get to Paris, but until then I shall practice posting and keep you updated on my progress.

I will leave you with some French phrases to learn, so reading this will not have been a complete waste.

You see: Je m'appelle Robert.
You say: zhuh muh-pell Row-bear.
You said: My name is Robert.

Ensuite/Next:

You see: Je cherche un bon restaurant francais.
You say: zhuh share-sh uhn bohn rest-o-rohn frohn-say.
You said: I am looking for a good, French restaurant.

Finalement/Finally:

You see: Je voudrais acheter un hamburger.
You say: zhuh voo-dray ash-tay ugh nam-buhr-gehr.
You said: I would like to buy a hamburger.

Check back for updates, subscribe, or wait until the real fun starts on January 12.

À la prochaine fois! Until next time!
